1. What is in my ballot package?

Each ballot package includes one ballot, one secrecy sleeve/printed instruction sheet, and one return envelope to submit your voted ballot.

2. Is my ballot still valid if it isn’t returned in a secrecy sleeve?

Yes. Any ballots received without a secrecy sleeve are immediately placed in a sleeve when opened to maintain voter confidentiality.

3. What should I do if I don’t receive a ballot?

Please contact the Montrose City Clerk’s Office at 970-240-1422 or via email at cityclerk@cityofmontrose.org to inquire about the status of your ballot.

4. What should I do if I make a mistake or damage my ballot?

If you accidentally damage or lose your ballot, please contact the Montrose City Clerk’s Office at 970-240-1422 or by email at cityclerk@cityofmontrose.org. We will schedule a ballot replacement pick up time with you. Be sure to bring a form of photo ID with you when picking up your replacement ballot.

5. When does my ballot need to be received to be counted?

All ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, April 7, 2020. 

6. Where can I submit my ballot?

Ballots can be mailed to City Hall or placed in the drop box located in front of the former Montrose County Courthouse building at 320 S. First St.

7. Why do I have to sign the outside of my ballot return envelope?

The voter affirmation and signature on the back of each return envelope is an added voter security measure. It allows election officials to compare the information on the return envelope to the voter registration records to confirm that the enclose ballot was submitted by an eligible elector. 

8. What is the political affiliation of each candidate?

In accordance with Article III, Section 5 of the Montrose City Charter, all City of Montrose elections shall be nonpartisan. As such, candidates are not required to provide information about their party affiliation, nor does the city specifically know the party affiliation of each candidate.
