Commander Blaine Hall Selected As Next Montrose Police Chief
Montrose, CO – The City of Montrose is pleased to announce that Commander Blaine Hall will serve as Montrose’s next police chief beginning November 2. Hall will replace retiring Police Chief Tom Chinn, who is leaving after 45 years of dedicated service to the Montrose community.
Hall has served with the Montrose Police Department for over 21 years in a variety of capacities such as police officer, sergeant, detective, lieutenant, and most recently, commander alongside Gene Lillard, who will soon become the next Montrose County Sheriff. Hall and Lillard share a very productive working relationship that should result in many great opportunities to build bridges between the city and Montrose County.
When asked about his successor, Police Chief Tom Chinn stated: “Blaine will do an excellent job for the City of Montrose. His resume includes numerous accolades and accomplishments including extensive education. Blaine has earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees, has attended the Northwestern School of Staff and Command, and the FBI National Academy. Blaine also served the Town of Ridgway as acting chief for several months during a time of need. I am proud of Blaine’s success and I know that he has all the ‘right stuff’ for this position.”
Hall was chosen to serve as the city’s next police chief after going through a complete internal promotional and panel interview process over the past few weeks, with representatives of the City Manager’s office, Human Resources, and Legal departments taking part in the interviews.
According to City Manager Bill Bell, “Hall’s knowledge and expertise in the field of law enforcement, as well as his ability to foster positive and healthy relationships with both staff and community members, will help us to continue moving the Montrose community forward.”
Blaine Hall commented on his selection by saying: “We have a great organization and I work with some outstanding men and women. I’m excited and ready to lead the Montrose Police Department into the future.”
