City Celebrates Opening Day for Youth Baseball This Saturday

Montrose, CO – Opening Day of the 2018 Montrose Competitive Youth Baseball League season begins Saturday, May 12 with a host of Opening Day ceremonies. The new competitive youth softball league for young ladies will be a highlight of the festivities.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Sunset Mesa Sports Complex, Master of Ceremonies and Montrose City Councilor Judy Ann Files will welcome kids onto the field. The presentation of colors will be provided by the Montrose High School ROTC Color Guard, followed by the national anthem, which will be performed by MHS student Mckinley Nichols. Montrose Mayor Roy Anderson is also expected to attend.

The ceremony will celebrate donations provided by former Colorado Rockies player Kevin Ritz. New signage will be revealed on the 13-15-year-old division field, which will be known moving forward as "Kevin Ritz Field”.

More information about the baseball and softball leagues, schedules, and tournaments can be found at: CityofMontrose.org/Baseball
