Final List of City Council Candidates Announced


Montrose, CO – Five city residents have qualified to have their names placed on the ballot for the upcoming City of Montrose General Municipal Election. The election will be for three council seats; Districts I and II, both four-year terms, and the two-year At-Large seat. 

Candidate petitions have been verified for the following individuals:  
District I
Douglas W. Glaspell
Jeremiah Quintin

District II
Dave Bowman

At-Large
Barbara Bynum
David Stockton

A drawing to determine the order that the candidates’ names will appear on the ballot will be held in the City Council Chambers (107 S. Cascade Ave.) on Tuesday, February 6 following the City Council meeting. 

The League of Women Voters will host a candidate forum at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, in the City Council Chambers. The forum will be broadcast live on Montrose TV (Channel 191) and periodically rebroadcast on the channel following the forum. Voters can also watch the forum live or on-demand at CityofMontrose.org/Video.

The election will be conducted by mail ballot on April 3, 2018. Citizens can register to vote up to and including Election Day (April 3), but must reside within the city limits for a minimum of 22 days before Election Day to be eligible to vote. Voter registrations and updates can be made at the Montrose County Election Office (320 S. First Street), or on the Colorado Secretary of State website (GoVoteColorado.com).

Ballots will be mailed to voters during the week of March 12. Citizens can return ballots by mail or hand deliver them to official ballot boxes in the lobby of City Hall (433 S. First Street) and the Montrose County Election Office. Ballots can also be deposited in Montrose County’s 24-hour ballot drop box at 320 S. First Street. Ballots must be received by the City Clerk before 7:00 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.
