City of Montrose Announces 2022 General Municipal Election Results
Montrose, CO — Registered city voters returned thousands of ballots to decide representation on the Montrose City Council as the 2022 municipal election concluded on Tuesday evening, April 5.
Registered city voters returned 3,579 of 13,674 ballots issued for the spring election, resulting in a ballot return rate of 26.17 percent. The City of Montrose City Clerk’s office partners with the Montrose County Clerk and Recorder’s office to conduct the city’s municipal election.
In the City Council District I race, Councilor Doug Glaspell retained his seat earning 2,066 votes over Paul Arbogast, who recorded 1,376 votes.
In the District II race, Ed Ulibarri recorded 2,094 votes with incumbent Councilor Anthony Russo earning 1,384 votes.
In District III, Councilor J. David Reed, who was unopposed, recorded 2,614 votes to retain his seat.
Finally, in the City Council’s At Large race, Councilor Barbara Bynum, who ran unopposed, retained her seat with 2,573 votes.
The District I and II seats are each four-year terms. District III is a two-year term, due to a midterm appointment, and the At Large seat is also a two-year term. The successful candidates will be sworn in at the April 19, 2022, City Council regular meeting, and a new mayor will be selected by vote of the council as provided by the City Charter. Election results will become official after the canvas of votes is completed. A notice of the official election results will be published in the Montrose Daily Press after the canvas of votes is completed.
