Cerise Dog Park To Close For Maintenance/Cleaning
Montrose, CO — In an ongoing effort to support the health and well-being of dogs and their owners, the City of Montrose will close the city’s dog park located on the north end of Cerise Park for cleaning and maintenance beginning Thursday, April 30.
The closure will run through Sunday, May 3. The park will reopen for public use on Monday, May 4.
According to City of Montrose Parks Superintendent, Jackie Bubenik, all parks staff will be spending Thursday morning cleaning the Cerise dog park before heavy watering is used to flush the area and give the turf a few days to recover. This will include the clean-up of any pet waste found in the park.
The city would like to encourage the public to use the waste bags and disposal cans as they contribute to the overall health, safety, and upkeep of the park.
"It (the dog park) is used so frequently that a yearly cleanup is needed to help prevent the spread of canine diseases," Bubenik said.
During the closure, the city will reopen its second dog park, located on the northeast end of Riverbottom Park just off the bike path, for public use. The dog parks are open from sunrise to sunset. Parking for this alternative dog park is located in Riverbottom Park.
To ease the burden on the Cerise dog park, the city will keep the second dog park open indefinitely, provided that it can be kept in good condition.
All pets must remain on-leash until within the off-leash area in the dog park. For more information visit
