[ARCHIVED] 6530 Road Bridge OPEN

041320BridgeOpen_001

Montrose, CO — The City of Montrose is pleased to announce completion of the 6530 Road Bridge Deck Replacement Project and reopening of 6530 Road to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.  The project was completed under budget, ahead of schedule, and injury free.  All work is complete on the project with the exception of the final guardrails which were delayed due to the current Covid-19 pandemic.  These are scheduled to arrive in the next one to two months and temporary concrete barriers have been installed alongside the bridge in the meantime.

Originally built in 1966, the 6530 Road Bridge over Dry Cedar Creek had reached the end of its service life.  In response to this, this project included a full removal of the aging bridge deck, improvements to the bridge structure to bring it up to modern standards, construction of new reinforced-concrete deck and approach slabs, upgraded guardrails, and an asphalt overlay.

The City would like to express a special thanks to the residents of Montrose for their patience throughout construction and to the general contractor Ridgway Valley Enterprises for helping to make the project a success.

Any questions regarding the project may be directed to Civil Engineer, Ryan Cushenan at 970.240.1485 and please visit www.MoveMo.co for routine project updates and information on other large capital projects taking place within the City.
