Beginning Monday, January 6, 2020, the City of Montrose will close Miami Road between US Highway 50 and 6800 Road to install a new 24-inch waterline. The closure is expected to continue into April 2020.
The city will establish a detour route and maintain access to local residences and the Museum of the Mountain West throughout construction.
The project is part of a multi-year effort to improve city water infrastructure that transports water from the main Project 7 supply line at Highway 50 to the Sunnyside Tank. The project was identified as a critical need in the city's Water Master Plan and has been implemented in phases since 2016.
In 2019 the city upsized an existing 12-inch line along 6800 Road between Miami and Sunnyside roads to a 24-inch line. The current phase of the project will upsize the remainder of the line along Miami Road between 6800 Road and Highway 50.
