Montrose, CO — Street utility crews will be working overnight to fix a waterline under Townsend Avenue. The work will start around 8 p.m. and is scheduled to be finished prior to morning traffic.

Last week utility crews repaired a broken water main under pressure at Spruce Drive and Townsend Avenue due to poor functioning water valves.

Utility crews are planning to work on the waterline at South 10th Street and Townsend Avenue and South 12th Street and Townsend Avenue tonight to determine the exact location and outside diameter of the waterline in preparation of the replacement of the nonfunctional water valves.

This will involve closing the left southbound lane of Townsend. Work is anticipated to start approximately 8 p.m. and be finished with temporary surfacing in the morning.

Once the size and exact location of the waterline are determined, plans for the replacement of the broken valves will be finalized. The crews plan to finish this work later this month.
