Montrose U Leadership

Because the quality of a community depends on the capability of its leaders.

The Montrose U Leadership Program creates a legion of leaders who understand Montrose's past and present and intend to fully participate in its future. Alumni are prepared to confidently meet existing challenges and lead organizations skillfully through the development of: 

  • Solution-based leadership competencies
  • Abilities to broker difficult interactions

How to Participate

Registration for the 2023/24 cohort has closed. Be on the lookout for announcements about how you can participate in 2024/25.

As a class participant, you will have the opportunity to learn or deepen your understanding of:

  • The history of the Uncompahgre Valley including the leadership, vision, and compromises that have made us the community we are today
  • Your leadership style and how to work with other leadership styles
  • The roles of different local government entities, you may also meet with local leaders including elected officials and staff
  • Local challenges and accomplishments from education, healthcare, water rights, agriculture, manufacturing, and others
  • The election process for boards and councils at various levels of government
  • What opportunities exist to serve our community that might suit your expertise, passions and interests
