Revolving Loan Funds of up to $20,000 are available to assist businesses with building and property improvements. The program is divided into two segments; the Downtown Opportunity Fund, available to businesses located within the downtown business district, and the Montrose Opportunity Fund for other entities within the city limits. The city will provide funding and in-kind assistance for making external improvements to a business property to improve its “curb appeal”. Improvements could include sidewalks, landscaping, signage, blight removal, and other enhancements appropriate to the needs of the business.
Business Incentives Requirements
The city requires the following items from businesses seeking assistance:
Includes jobs to be created (salaries and job descriptions included)
Projected sales/sales tax revenue over three year period
Project cost (project must be at least 20% self-funded)
Formal written request for incentives
Two years of tax returns (personal or business, if applicable)
Building permit and tap fee abatement
Relocation expenses for businesses relocating to Montrose
Office space abatement for businesses relocating to Montrose
Other incentives considered on a case by case basis
