Jim Scheid, Public Works Manager

Jim ScheidJim grew up in Montrose and graduated from Montrose High School. After high school, he attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in construction management.

While going to school, Jim also worked as a carpenter and field superintendent on several projects throughout Colorado. Fort Collins is where Jim was lucky enough to meet his wife, Kelli. After graduating, he worked for FCI Constructors on many projects in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and North Dakota.

In an attempt to get closer to home, Jim and Kelli moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, with Jim working as a fabricator for Noble Casing, Inc. Within a couple of years, he was the district manager of all Cheyenne operations. Cheyenne is where Jim and Kelli welcomed their two children, Peyton and Jackson.

In a final effort to get back home, Jim moved his family to Montrose and worked as a project manager for a couple of different contractors in custom residential construction and commercial structural steel. Jim then accepted the opportunity to work for the City of Montrose as the public works manager.

Jim has always been involved in outdoor activities in and around Montrose. Hunting, hiking, mountain climbing, dirt bike riding, and mountain biking are a few of the outdoor activities that he regularly enjoys. He also has an interest in fabrication and mechanics so if he’s not enjoying outdoor activities, he’s probably building his next project in the shop.
