Public Art eXperience
Overview
The Montrose Public Art eXperience (PAX) aims to create a more pleasing visual environment, expand opportunities to experience quality works of art, and facilitate the development, acquisition and display of art in Montrose’s public spaces. The PAX Brochure and Sculpture Location Map serves as a guide to exploring sculptures that are on display in downtown Montrose.
PAX was excited to hold its Fourth Annual Exhibit and Gala on Friday, September 11, in Centennial Plaza. New to this year's gala event was an artist "Quickdraw" that featured six local artists and a live auction.
The Montrose Public Art eXperience (PAX) is a partnership between the PAX steering committee, the Montrose Chamber of Commerce, the City of Montrose, local business sponsors, and the public. PAX sponsors include Four Seasons Investments, Montrose Arts Council, The Stupid Band, Montrose Daily Press and Montrose Area Merchants Association.
People’s Choice Award
Each year the public has the opportunity to select the winner of the “People’s Choice Award”– a cash prize to the artist. Your votes will also help us decide which piece to purchase and donate to the City’s permanent art collection. “People’s Choice” voting forms can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall, 433 S. 1st Street, or the Montrose Chamber of Commerce OR mailed to: PAX, 1519 E. Main Street, Montrose, CO 81401.
