As part of the annual Street Maintenance program, South Cascade Avenue between South Fifth Street and South Eighth Street will be rehabilitated. Due to the deterioration of the existing asphalt, this section of Cascade was not a candidate for the normal mill & overlay completed as part of street maintenance, and needs to be completely reconstructed.
This project will include the replacement of any deteriorated curb and gutter that affects drainage of the roadway; removal of the existing narrow valley pan at South Sixth and the culvert on South Seventh and replacement with wide valley pans; installation of ADA accessible ramps at the corners of South Sixth and South Seventh; lowering of the crown on the roadway from the southern edge of South Fifth Street to the alley between South Seventh and South Eighth Streets; and replacement of the existing deteriorated asphalt pavement.
This project is currently being designed by City staff with assistance of Del-Mont Consultants, who completed the survey for the project. Construction plans will be put out for bids this spring with construction to follow this summer.
