Host Homes Needed for The 32nd Annual Ride the Rockies

Montrose is fortunate to be selected again this year as one of the overnight stops for Ride the Rockies (RTR). This annual event takes approximately 2,000 bike riders on a week-long tour of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. Staff and family members add to the number of participants, bringing the number of travelers to approximately 2,500.

While tents, RV’s, and sleeping bags on the gym floor are acceptable for some, the demand for lodging may be beyond what the local hotels and motels can provide. Having locals offer private home lodging to riders is a wonderful way for Montrose to display community hospitality and for individuals to become acquainted with some interesting people from across the U.S.

Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association (COPMOBA) is heading up the arrangements to match up approximately 50 riders with host homes for Thursday, June 15, 2017. Lodging proceeds will help support COPMOBA’s efforts to build and maintain trails in the Montrose area.

A bed and bathroom is all that is required. You and your RTR guest(s) will make direct arrangements regarding times and transportation from the RTR headquarters, located at Montrose High School, to your home and back.

Help make Montrose the best stop along the RTR route, while helping support COPMOBA at the same time. Please contact Home Stay Coordinator for COPMOBA Elie Malloy for more information at 801-618-8858 or elielee.m@gmail.com.
