Fiber Optic Connections to City Facilities

In 2013 the city completed a project to extend its fiber network to the Public Works Shops and the Pavilion.  This project used an innovative public/private partnership to connect these important buildings into the city network infrastructure.

The Montrose-based firm ClearNetworx partnered with the city to extend a fiber network from downtown Montrose to these two public facilities. This partnership saved the city a considerable amount when compared to the costs to install the fiber on its own.

The city will only use only a portion of the installed fiber and the remainder will be used by ClearNetworx to expand their offering of broadband services to customers along the path of the new fiber and beyond.  This project furthers the Montrose City Council goal of increasing availability and public access to high speed broadband Internet.
